Professor Dr. Chee Piau Wong

Professor Dr. Chee Piau Wong is a distinguished paediatrician, child neurologist, educator, researcher, and digital health pioneer with extensive experience in clinical practice, academic leadership, and healthcare innovation. He received his medical training in Malaysia and specialist training in the United Kingdom, becoming the first Malaysian paediatrician to complete the UK Calman Training in Paediatrics and Paediatric Neurology.

He has held academic and clinical appointments at leading institutions, including Monash University Malaysia, Perdana University, Sunway Medical Centre, and University Tunku Abdul Rahman. Throughout his career, he has championed innovative medical education initiatives, community-based healthcare programmes, and rural health placements, earning multiple teaching excellence awards.

His research spans paediatric neurology, epilepsy, brain injury, telemedicine, artificial intelligence, and digital health. He established one of Malaysia’s earliest multidisciplinary telemedicine research platforms and has led numerous pioneering projects, including telemedicine ecosystems, digital rehabilitation systems, AI-assisted healthcare solutions, and patient-centred digital health records. He has secured substantial national and international research funding, holds patents in digital health, and has supervised multiple doctoral candidates in telemedicine-related research.

As a founding member of Malaysia’s digital health ecosystem, he established the National Telemedicine Conference and served as the founding President of Digital Health Malaysia. His contributions have been instrumental in advancing digital health policy, innovation, and healthcare transformation in Malaysia. He continues to lead initiatives that integrate technology, clinical care, and research to improve healthcare delivery and patient outcomes.
