Dr. Azlan Darus

Dr. Azlan Darus is a Public Health Specialist and Occupational Health Physician who currently serves as the Head of the Prevention, Medical and Rehabilitation Division at the Social Security Organization (PERKESO), Malaysia. He leads nationwide occupational safety, health, medical, and rehabilitation programmes that support more than nine million contributors under Malaysia’s social security system.

He is actively involved in academia and professional development, serving as a Member of the CEO@Faculty Programme at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, an Elite@UM Fellow at Universiti Malaya, and a Fellow at the School of Business Management, Universiti Utara Malaysia. He has also contributed to academic programme development in occupational safety and health at Universiti Putra Malaysia.

Internationally, he holds several leadership positions, including Vice-Chairperson of the Technical Commission on Insurance against Occupational Injury and Occupational Diseases under the International Social Security Association (ISSA) and Vice President of the ISSA Section on Prevention in Transportation. He also serves on professional and regulatory bodies, including the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the Academy of Occupational and Environmental Medicine Malaysia (AOEMM).

He has authored and reviewed scientific publications and remains actively engaged in national and international conferences, contributing to the advancement of occupational health, workplace safety, social protection, and rehabilitation services.
